I had the opportunity today to finally net and photograph a selection from the other pond at the growing facility.
Some really excellent Koi were netted, we are so happy with the growth rates these Koi have been putting on, its quite incredible. The quality is also really good, a few are amazing. We have just taken the very first look at the Tosai which are now growing on in our growing facility.
These Koi were imported in July and all were around 15cms. After a month of settling down into the new systems they have really started to grow, on a diet of really good food and a high temp which was helped by a wood burner. They have shot up in size, and body! We believe they have had 3 proper months of growing and the biggest we measured today was 30cms but there are bigger ones. We netted the left hand side pond today and will net the right hand side pond next week to have a look. We are over the moon with how these Koi are developing, the quality is superb. These are available to purchase but they are in 10,000gallon ponds and catching them is not only difficult but also stressful to the Koi. We can take a deposit and they can be left in the growing systems and will keep growing at these rates, free of charge! Then in the spring I will bring them down to the shop for collection. The new Koi have arrived and we have started taking pictures of some of the new Koi, they are still in QT and will be for at least another 5 weeks.

Hi all, Sorry for a delay in updates, been extremely busy.
Was a great Japan trip, really enjoyed it, saw some excellent fish as always. Its a great place to see the best fish in the world and it did not disappoint in anyway. Was great seeing the breeders again and everyone over there, a big thanks to all.
Thanks to everyone who followed me and commented on Twitter and Facebook, was surprised at the popularity of the blog, thanks all.
I have added a few pics of a few of the highlights, I will of course be writing an article for Koi Carp magazine of the trip, so that should be in the next couple of issues. The fish will arrive in the next 10 days from Japan, will let everyone know the exact dates as soon as I have them.

Another crazy busy day. Started out at Hiroi Seiji where we had a good chat and a cuppa, a great man! I had some business to conclude with Shintaro so I spent my morning in Yamakoshi taking pictures and video’s, as always great Koi to be seen.
Then down to Kawakami to select some stunning small Nisai, really great fish. Onto Yamazaki, then down to Marusei. Then Muruhide who works with Isa found us and showed us his doitsu Koi, some great fish to be had.
An interesting note today while chatting with Isa. Out of their total sales this October/November over 70% of the sales went to China! Crazy!
Another busy day in the mountains.
I needed to get out first thing and meet up with Isa who had just brought in a couple more Nisai, fantastic too. Then off to Izumiya as I had a client looking for a Yamabuki and we were certainly not disappointed which we never are with the quality of Yamabuki at Izumiya. Up to Igarashi Kazuto to pick a few nice 2 year olds which were great, the showa on the video is just excellent.

Another great day in the mountains. Saw some more superb Koi. First call was to Yamamatsu and found a fantastic Sanke, typical matsunosuke pattern and class, this fish is out of this world. Check her out on the video. I didn’t think it would get any better until I walked into Hiroi Seiji and he bowled us up one of the nicest Kohaku I have seen for a long time! I almost fainted at the price but it was still very nice to see, 85cm and a fantastic body!
Stopped back at Kazuto and found a really nice Maruten kohaku, really nice pattern. Headed down to see Ogawa and checked what his Utsuri’s were like and as always he had some crackers, may go back for a pick in the next 2 days. Was quite around the mountains as there is a Koi Show on in Tokyo so many breeders were down there, still another great day though!
I have also added a video of the Marusei facility in Kawaguchi, I dont think people can ever believe the size of the place and the amount of Koi they have in stock at this one single facility, its massive and the video should show you how big!

Another very busy day today, with a lot of driving. First stop at 8am was Marusei to check out some jumbo Koi, pics will follow in the next few days. Torazo showed us some of his best Koi and they did not disappoint. Then we went up to SekiGuchi and saw a great little Showa, check out the vid, killer pattern. Kazuto we bowled a few of his best Koi including a 79cm Kohaku which was out of this world. Then headed back to Marudo to secure the Showa pictured yesterday for a client and stumbled across such a high class Showa! Just something else…the skin, the quality…everything!
